Fatherly Filter

fatherly filter

Me

without You

is like coffee brewed

without a filter,

bitter, dark

and full of

nasty

surprises

Their

words, fall

on me unfiltered;

like coffee,

burning hot, black

bitter and full

of nasty

surprises.

Filter

their words.

Let me hear the

good intentions lost

in the brewing process

of words spoken

without a

Fatherly

Filter.

A poet after my own heart. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I own the sentiment that you have so eloquently described. Thank you.

Lest you mistake my words, I’M NOT the one filtering your words. For I often need mine filtered, too.

    • Ah, thanks! I wrote it while recovering from my cancer caregiving journey–and then I realized that I don’t spend enough effort filtering myself on a daily basis.

  • Wow, Anita…this is a powerful poem….and lovely in its truth 🙂 Thank you! Easter blessings to you and your family 🙂

Such a perfect description of life lived without using the Fatherly Filter. Sometimes, I am so tired I forget to use the Filter and I really don ‘t like me without using His filter!

    • I don’t like ME without His filter, either! :).
